During the Summer of 2015, my friend and I took a road trip up to the Finger Lakes region of New York. Before arriving in the Finger Lakes region, I saw my first waterfall! Read about it here. While I was in the Finger Lakes region I also visited Niagara Falls and Letchworth State Park. What a fun trip with so many beautiful sites! It was also my first road trip! I was still using an iPhone to take pictures, so the image quality isnt great, sorry!
After Leaving Carpenter Falls (where I say my first waterfall) we went to see Lake Ontario from a place called Chimney Bluffs! This place was so unique and beautiful! It looks like a castle! Sort of….It’s a pretty short walk/hike (about 1 hour round trip) and the bluffs are just so cool, here is a closer view of them. Lake Ontario is so blue! This place is definitely worth the visit!
From here we went to Taughannock Falls State Park. And of course we get to see another waterfall here. Yay! It was even bigger than the last one! To see the waterfall, there are two options. I don’t remember the trail names, but from one trail you get to see the waterfall from a higher view and from the other trail you can view the waterfall from ground level. We chose the latter option, although I regret not doing both. The hike we took was the easier of the two and it probably took no more than 20 minutes to get to the waterfall. Here is a picture of that walk.
And one more picture..
This was a beautiful walk, but keep in mind that this was during a pretty long drought in the summer, so I don’t know if there is usually more water here or not. And the waterfall is also not as strong as it usually is because of the long drought. Nonetheless it was still very strong and I wouldn’t mess with it.
And here is the waterfall!
And to give a little more perspective on how big this waterfall was, here is a picture of me next to it.
I was getting absolutely drenched right there. The waterfall was blowing me away! It was so strong! I couldn’t hear anything but the waterfall. And that is actually extremely relaxing! Out of all the places I went to on this trip, I had the most fun here. And if you like swimming, you can swim right there in the body of water next to me.
